When I went to put on my lipstick first thing this morning, I couldn't not blog about it because todays choice is just so pretty. So this is The Twelve Days of Lipstick, bonus day!
I'm wearing 'Betty Bright' from the MAC Archie's Girls collection (£15.50) and as you can see from the swatch, it does what it says on the tin. It's bright, beautiful and perfect for lifting the spirits on a dull day like today. I'm also one of those people who gets drawn in by snazzy packaging so as you can imagine, I was like a moth to a flame all over this one - it's just so cute!
Do you own any items from the Archie's Girls collection? What are your favourites?
I do hope you've all enjoyed following my Twelve Days of Lipstick series? A slight deviation from my usual stuff I know, but what could be more vintage than lipstick? I've certainly loved digging out some long lost make-up and sharing it with you all.
As always, thank you for reading. I'll be back very soon with some very exciting vintage news! xxx

The Twelve Days of Lipstick - Day 12...
And so we come to last day of The Twelve Days of Lipstick...
I wanted to wear a dark lip today but not so dark it trespassed into winter territory, it is nearly spring after all! I always find these 'dark-but-not-too-dark' shades so hard to find. They're either too brown, too purple, too dark, not dark enough, too opaque...what I nightmare! And so I give you 'Sophisto' by MAC (£14). Good old MAC, eh. They've pretty much thought of every lip colour you could possibly need.
I don't hear enough about 'Sophisto' which is surprising as it's so unique. It looks quite brown in the tube, a lot pinker on the hand swatch and looks a lot more 'berry-ish' on my lips which shows how multi-tonal it is. It's a lustre finish so it's nice and sheer and has a pretty shimmer to it.
The perfect berry shade? What do you think?

The Twelve Days of Lipstick - Day 11...
Hey again you lovely lot,
I had a spot of shopping to do today. So despite feeling in the mood for something bright and outrageous, I needed a lipstick that was low maintenance yet flattering and pretty...
Bourjois Rouge Edition lipstick in '02 Beige Trench' ticked all the boxes. It may not look like much but it's such a lovely soft and smooth formula that has a pretty sheen to it. These are fairly new on the market but the colour range is great and quite unique so I definitely want to try more.

The Twelve Days of Lipstick - Day 10...
Evening all,
I hardly ever wear this lipstick despite it being an incredible colour and one of my absolute favourites. 'Rebel' by MAC (£14) is a very bright, rich shade of berry-ish purple and I've never come across anything else like it. It's absolutely beautiful and despite it being more of an evening lip colour, I made it work for day by dabbing it on lightly and adding a layer of clear gloss. Perfect!
Do you own this lipstick? Contender for best lip colour 2013? Let me know what you think!

The Twelve Days of Lipstick - Day 9...
Hello again guys,
It's snowing on day 9 of my 'Twelve Days of Lipstick', but that's all the more reason to crack out this summery bright beauty - Revlon's Colour Burst Lip Butter in '015 Tutti Frutti'.
I bought this last summer and never got that much wear out of it so have dug it back out today. The formula is sheer so this isn't a scary orange and being a lip butter, it's moisturising and doing a great job of protecting my lips against the major blizzard that's currently going on outside.
Do you own any of the Revlon Lip Butters? What other shades would you recommend? I'd definitely be up for trying another colour.

The Twelve Days of Lipstick - Day 8...
Hi all,
It may have been f-f-f-freezing today but I've been sporting my favourite baby pink from MAC - 'Angel' (£14). The only pale pink shade I've found that doesn't wash me out. This one gets talked about so much in the blogaverse & I can understand why.
If you haven't checked 'Angel' out already, I definitely recommend you give it a try.

The Twelve Days of Lipstick - Day 7...
Hi there Vintage Lovers,
Today's lip colour of choice is L'Oreal's Rouge Caresse in '07 Cheeky Magenta' (£8.19 - www.boots.com).
I originally wanted to try MAC's much sought after 'Candy Yum Yum' (I was in a daring mood!) but despite falling in love with the fabulous colour, was put off by the matte texture and the scarily bold colour pay off. This is perfect however, because it's the same blue toned pink as 'Candy Yum Yum' (which will make your teeth look white - bonus!) but has a sheer, glossy finish that's much more forgiving. A lovely bright shade that's not too 'in your face' - the best of both worlds.
Do you own any colours in the Rouge Caresse range? Which would you recommend?

The Twelve Days of Lipstick - Day 6...
Another day, another lipstick and I've gone all out glam today...
I wanted to channel a bit of 'vintage vamp' so I'm wearing this beautiful classic deep raspberry red. I don't wear this that often as I only really use it for evening. But there's nothing like a classic red lippie to boost the confidence and I can officially report that it works!
This is by Italian brand KIKO Cosmetics but I actually picked it up whilst on holiday in Barcelona for around €7 (approx. £6). It doesn't have a name, it's just labeled as shade '392' (which I assume has been discontinued as I can't find it anywhere online - www.kikocosmetics.com) and is one of their creamy lipstick formulas. I would highly recommend checking them out (they ship to the UK!) as the quality is brilliant and their whole collection is great value for money.

The Twelve Days of Lipstick - Day 5...
Hey all,
Quite a late one tonight - it's been a busy day. And cold, windy and miserable I might add, which is partly why I wore such a bright lipstick.
I went for 'Sunny Seoul' by MAC. This is possibly my favourite lipstick colour ever - I'm such a sucker for a bright shade of peach. It definitely doesn't get enough love on beauty blogs and YouTube, this one.
The lighting in this pic (and possibly my camera) really doesn't do it justice, but you get the idea...

The Twelve Days of Lipstick - Day 4...
Morning all!
Really hope you're enjoying my 12 Days of Lipstick series so far?
Today, I've gone to the dark side & chosen a shade that's probably more suited to an autumn/winter look to be honest. But I just really fancied wearing a dark colour for a change as I normally wear either a nude or a bright shade.
So I chose 'Blackberry' by Bobbi Brown (£18). This is from my ltd. edition 1991 lipstick palette (an gift from my boyfriend a few birthdays ago) but it is available individually too.
Do you have the 1991 lipstick palette? What's your favourite Bobbi Brown shade?

The Twelve Days Of Lipstick - Day 3...
Hi guys,
Today's shade of choice is this brilliantly bright number called 620 Coral Queen by Rimmel (£6.29). It's from their Moisture Renew range which I think are pretty good & great value too.
Thought I could get away with something this bright as the rest of my face, and even my outfit, is quite minimal today. The picture doesn't show just how neon it actually is but it's a very pretty colour but not too orange as it has a pink undertone.

The Twelve Days of Lipstick - Day 2...
Morning Everyone!
The sun is out today so day two's lipstick is a gorgeous bright pink. It's another MAC (sorry, I do seem to have a thing for their lipsticks) called 'Lustering'. Perfect!
Let me know what your favourite pink lippie is!

The Twelve Days of Lipstick - Day 1...
Hello again lovely readers,
One thing you may have picked up from my previous post is that I absolutely adore make-up, lipstick in particular. I tend to collect make-up rather than just have the bare essentials and I'm a complete sucker for a limited edition collection.
'Fashion Not Rocket Science' will always be, first and foremost, a vintage blog. But I felt it was time to branch out and throw some vintage style make-up into the mix. What better place to start than with lipstick?
I have so many lipsticks and probably don't wear the majority of them as much as I should. So, to try and get the best from my collection (and maybe rediscover a few I've forgotten I have) I'm going to be doing a '12 Days of Lipstick' - wearing a different lipstick each day for the next 12 days. I will also be posting on Twitter and Instagram. It's definitely time to dig out those bright spring shades I've not even considered wearing during the cold, dark winter months!
So today was day 1 and I was in a nude mood (oooh, err!) so slapped on a bit of 'Hue' by MAC (£14 each - see pic below). It may not look like much but it's very glossy and pretty on and was perfect for today's look. I was sporting deep purple winged liner and didn't want anything too strong on the lips.
I'd love to know what your favourite nude lipstick is. Let me know in the comments below!
